Missional Communities are gatherings in which we invite people to serve the needs of a community through word and service. We invite you to get involved in serving the needs and providing hope to our city, neighborhood and context! Here are some ways to get involved:
1. The 111th Precinct
the 111th Precinct serves the areas of Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Auburndale, Hollis Hills, and Fresh Meadows. They hold a Community Council Meeting at the 111 Precinct on 45-06 215th Street, Bayside, NY on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm. Members of Hope East Queens seek to attend these meetings to partner with local law enforcement and help heal the tension that exists over policing. Contact (Morris Bankson): email@example.com
2. Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is run by the organization Samaritan's Purse and is the world's largest Christmas project of its kind; during the months of November and December we partner with Samaritan's Purse in having individuals donate gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to children in need all around the world. Contact (David Jung): firstname.lastname@example.org
3. The Lord's Table Homeless Ministry
The Lord's Table ministry is a once a month event on Sundays at 4 pm where 6-8 of us go to cook and clean at a homeless shelter in Flushing, NY. Contact (Anna Lee): email@example.com
4. SPARK PACKS
Spark Packs is a initiative to create more interactions between Christians and the poor through assembling homeless care-packages (washcloths, food, clothes, etc.) for individuals to distribute during their daily lives. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
We partner with LifeRice, a nonprofit humanitarian food aid organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of undernourished children around the corner in the United States and starving children around the world. Once a year, we purchase and pack nutritious meals (rice, soy, vitamins & flavoring, vegetables) that can be stored and shipped to those in need in Haiti.
6. Do for one
Do For One’s vision is a future where the world is keenly aware of the problems people with disabilities face. Their mission is to promote stronger communities and richer lives by bringing people excluded from freely given support into healthy and lasting relationships. They launched in Queens in 2019 and we support them through our Do For One Fundraiser Coffeehouse (100% of proceeds go to Do For One).
