“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our motto here at Hope East is the whole family makes it happen. We have various ways to serve at Hope East such as our worship team, tots and children's ministry, setup/breakdown, and Sunday connections team. We generally like to create rotations in all of our volunteer opportunities to encourage people to serve at a healthy pace and not burn out. We are so grateful for our volunteers and strive to create an ongoing atmosphere of appreciation!

1. WORSHIP TEAM

Our Worship Team meets on Wednesday evenings (at our church office) and Sunday mornings for prayer and practice. We believe worship is the act of presenting our hearts to God and our time in worship together transcends beyond the music. If you play an instrument, sing, or want to help with our slides, this is a great way to connect with others that share the same passion as well as an opportunity to serve the Lord using your giftings! Contact (Josh Okpala): josh@hopeeast.org

2. ToDDlers & KIDS Ministry

Our tots and kids are dismissed to their respective classrooms right after our morning worship/song time (around 10:50 am). We try to come alongside parents by providing engaging environments for their children on Sundays. Our tots and kids volunteers help out once a month so that they can attend the rest of the service on days they are not serving. If you enjoy working with tots or kids, we would love to have you come on board our team!

3. youth Ministry

Our youth (6th grade until 12th) are dismissed to their classroom for a time of Bible study right after our morning worship/song time (around 10:50 am). Our volunteers serve once a month so that they can attend service on days they are not serving. If you have a heart for the youth, we would love to have you come on board our team! Contact (Jebin Yohannan): jebin.yohannan@hopeeast.org

4. Tech team

Every Sunday, we use various tech equipment working in the background to send sound into our nursery room, have our service running smoothly using presenter programs, and Live-stream our service so that it is accessible online. We are always in need of more volunteers to help with our tech. We would love for join! Contact (Josh Okpala): josh@hopeeast.org

5. sunday connections team

Our Sunday Connections Team is made up of our greeters and ushers. Our Connections Team has the pivotal role of being the first faces people see when they enter into our community. Our volunteers serve twice a month and come in for prayer at 10 am. If you are looking for a simple way to serve and connect with a team, this may be a good opportunity! Contact (Beth Markham): beth@hopeeast.org

6. PRAYER team

Our Prayer Team is made up of those who simply have a heart to pray for anyone who is in need of prayer. Our volunteers serve twice a month and listen to prayer requests at the end and after service for those who request to be prayed over. If you are interested in praying for others, this may be the team for you! Contact (Johnny Choi): johnny@hopeeast.org

7. COLLEGE/Young Adults MINISTRY

Our College Ministry meets on Sunday afternoons every other week for fellowship, reading the word, and prayer. Our volunteers participate in these groups to come alongside our students to help them grow in the Lord. We also have a college retreat in the summer and various events that take place throughout the year that our volunteers can serve at. Contact (Chris Lee): chris@hopeeast.org

“Why did Jesus wash his disciples feet? If he was only trying to teach them a final lesson about serving, he could’ve just simply told them so. It’s not just that Jesus told us to serve, but he is, in fact, the ultimate servant, who sacrifices himself on that cross for us. The reason we serve is not just to be obedient Christians, but it’s also because when we serve, we point towards the ultimate servant.”
