When visioning for our College Ministry, we look to Scripture when Jesus says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19 ESV). Our vision is that our college students would grow together as mature disciples of Christ and boldly proclaim the name of Jesus to the nations. We encourage our college students to get involved in the following ways:

1. Retreat

Every summer, we have our annual College Ministry Retreat where we get away from New York City and Long Island for a few days for a blessed time of worship, prayer, and fellowship. Through such events, we aim to build deeper relationships within our community. The dates of the 2020 summer retreat are still yet to be determined.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” - Psalm 133:1

2. Home Group

Join our bi-weekly Sunday afternoon College Home Group (Queens or Nassau) led by our college pastor, Johnny Choi (john@hopechurchnyc.org). At our College Group gathering, we typically grab a meal, fellowship, read the Word, share, and pray for another. We believe it is a valuable time of support and an opportunity for us to do life together as Christians.

“The physical presence of other Christians is a source of incomparable joy and strength to the believer.” –Dietrich Bonhoeffer

3. Discipleship

We value personal growth and building deep relationships with our college students. That is why our college pastor, Johnny Choi, and other volunteers would love to mentor and get to know our students on a deeper level in order to come alongside and help cultivate their spiritual growth with God.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

4. SERVE

Jesus modeled humble service to his disciples and followers, and we learn in John 13 that he even washed his disciples’ feet and commanded them to do likewise. We pray for our college students to follow Jesus’ example and continually grow as humble servants to our church and the community. For serving opportunities.

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
